Crawl Space

Crawl Space is a tactical stealth game in Unity, with a stylized artstyle that takes inspiration from sci-fi of the VHS era.
Modeled in zBrush. Retopologizing in Maya. High poly bake in Substance painter.

In Crawl Space you play as an murderous parasite that has the ability to possess other creatures and control their actions. By using stealth, tactics and murder, you escape the crew aboard the space station.

The project posed an interesting challenge, because in Crawl Space you place as the antagonist, as opposed to most games in the sci-fi horror genre. There was a huge emphasis on making the player feel like the "bad guy", as the goal of the game was to make the player feel sympathetic to their in game enemies.
I approached it by making the player character as unrelatable as possible, taking inspiration from snakes, spiders, mosquitos, tics. The design is of course inspired by the classical face hugger.
My goal for the enemy characters was to make them as cute as possible. Inspirations include Teddy bears, Baby Yoda and Koalas.
